T4P in Schools

T4P has been working in close partnership with Education Leeds and Leeds schools for several years. Together, we aim to get as many of Leeds' children and young people engaged with peace, conflict and justice issues as possible.

Our main project with young people is Peace Jam: click here for photos of our recent trip to LA with 40+ young people from 6 Leeds schools, or click here for more info about Peace Jam itself.

We've also, with our partners, helped roll out the annual Leeds Peace Poetry Competition into schools across Leeds, and hundreds of young people submit poems every year! Click here for more info.

In 2008, we've been working specifically with South Leeds High School and Hovingham Primary School to develop a series of creative programmes for their students and wider communities.

And every two years, during our T4P festivals, dozens of schools participate in a range of activities including: peace weeks, themed classes, assemblies, and more. In this way, the 2005 and 2007 festivals saw a massive 25% of Leeds' schools (including 20,000+ young people and children) engage with issues of peace, conflict and justice. Many thanks to all thoes staff members who made this work happen! And look out for the 2009 'summat' and season of events over the autumn.
